Our Heritage The Hudson’s story began in 1929 at Plum Island Point, where Malcolm Hudson charged a dollar a day to row fishermen out in his wooden dory. Alongside him, his wife Beverley sold sand eels from a pitched tent—eight quarts for just twenty-five cents. As their reputation grew, so did their fleet, leading to the launch of their first custom Downeaster in 1934.

Evolution & Growth

In 1972, the family transitioned from party boats to outboard repair and tackle, supporting their son Craig Sr. at Newburyport’s Brown’s Wharf. By 1991, the business had expanded into the full-service marine center it is today, relocating to our current home in Salisbury.
